On September 13, 2024, Spartanburg County SVU investigators assisted Cleveland County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina by serving 2 felony warrants for Indecent Liberties with a Minor on suspect, Ian Mitchell Farnsworth, 62 years old, 4212 Chaffee Rd., Spartanburg, SC, 29301. As a result of that arrest and investigation, it was determined that additional sexual offenses with an additional victim took place in Spartanburg County. On September 25, 2024, Farnsworth was charged in Spartanburg County with two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor in the First Degree. Farnsworth was released to Home Detention on October 22, 2024, but he then violated Home Detention one day later on October 23, 2024. The continued investigation resulted in the location and forensic interview of an additional minor victim. While at the Children's Advocacy Center, the minor victim disclosed ongoing sexual abuse by Farnsworth within the last year; subsequently on November 7, 2024, he was charged with one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor Second Degree  and two counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct With a Minor in the Third Degree. Farnsworth is currently housed in the Spartanburg County Detention Center without bond.
